What is ENEX ?

ENEX (European News Exchange) is a non profit organization for the exchange of News footage and transmission services between television broadcasters

ENEX was founded in 1994 in order to respond to the growing but costly need for satellite transmissions from the trouble spots on earth.

PRINCIPLES

The principal goal is to reduce costs for its members and put ressources together by sharing News pictures and technical facilities. Partners have free access to fixed and mobile uplinks of the organization in their respective country. ENEX covers breaking news LIVE with the help of the SNGs of its local partners and organizes joint operations in order to support member stations during major special events.

SATELLITE TRANSMISSIONS

ENEX handles 18 permanent digital Satellite channels on Eutelsat 16A (W3C) and Eutelsat 10A (W2A). During breaking news and special events or following requests from ENEX Partners, additional ad hoc capacity is leased, sometimes doubling or even tripling the overall space capacity. Depending on their financial contribution to ENEX, Member Stations are allocated daily so-called “Blockbooking slots” (free transmission time on the satellite) to cover their News prime time.
